Primas (Cousins) Meet for the first Time!
A few years ago through DNA testing (FTDNA.com) Tara found a number of 2nd - 4th cousins! One of which we have been communicating with the past 6-8 months. Ricardo Ordonez a 2nd-4th cousin currently living in Toronto Canada has been extremely helpful in putting us in touch with additional family members in Bogota.
As it turns out Ricardo's mother Sylvia Rueda (currently living in Bogota) had even a stronger DNA match/connection with Tara. With that Ricardo put us in touch with a daughter of his mothers 1st cousin. Can you follow that?
Gilma Wheel also known as Gilma Rueda is one of 17 known children that her father Honorio (1st cousin of Sylvia) had.
(Gilma is 1 of 5 children from her mother. She has 12 or more half brothers & sisters.)
It's possible the DNA connection between Tara and Gilma may even be closer! Perhaps 2nd cousins? 1st cousins? Half sisters?
When we met Gilma and her husband Jose Luis last week - they came and met us near the Gold Museum in LaCandalaria/Bogota. They picked us up, welcomed us with opened arms and brought us to there home which was less than 30 mins away from where we were staying.
Their daughters (Diana) boyfriend Julian spoke pretty good English and served as our interpreter!
We all got along great - looked at photo albums, talked about her father and mother, and as it turns out Gilma & Jose Luis love to go on Cruise Ships like we do - so they must be related to Tara! (haha)
*Gilma prepared a nice Colombian lunch for us, then dessert.
Soon after we had Gilma take the DNA test that we had brought for her. She said she would do everything and anything to help Tara locate/track down closer biological relatives!
Yet another Great day in Colombia and perhaps another step closer to unlocking Tara's past!
*Later that night we also went out to the "happening" area of Zona Rosa where we had some appetizers at the CrAzY Andres DC, then headed over to Hard Rock Cafe to see our old friend Andrey Rodriguez Prado! He was overwhelmed when we showed him photos of all of us from 6 years ago! Good Times!!

*Coming up in the next entry's - Chicaque National Park, Celebrating Colombia's Independence Day, and some Break Through Info we received just last night - a long lost and buried Police Report in Tara's USCIS file which has much more detail the day Tara was abandoned on February 26th, 1974. The information on the police report contradicts what Tara had been told from the beginning! STAY TUNED.......
