Three days in Santa Marta
We went from hot and humid in Cartagena to hot and dry in Santa Marta!
Along the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which is the tallest coastal mountain range in the world, lies the beautiful area of Santa Marta - One of the oldest cities in all of South America!
Staying at the Estellar-Santamar resort right on the beach we had a perfect view of the ocean just steps away from our cabana. Jessica especially enjoyed the hammock right outside our door. A very nice pool with a swim up bar was a highlight of our resort as well as the Colombian hospitality!
But topping off our stay was visiting Cristal Beach in Tayrona National Park (probably the most beautiful beach in all of Colombia) as well as the village of Taganga, and the city tour of Santa Marta!
City tour of Santa Marta, including a visit to Qinta de San Pedro Alejandrino (This is where the Liberator of Colombia Simon Bolivar came to in his final days in 1813-passing away of tuberculosis at age 47). We also got to visit the Catherdral of Santa Marta & the awesome fishing village of Taganga which to me looked like Colombia's Amalfi coast!
