After an exhausting day of travel last Friday what is the 1st thing we do? We go on the Chiva party bus. A fun time for sure but we were dragging big time by the end of the night. Before the chiva party bus we got to meet Tato - our host tucan in our hotel (Hotel Bantu).
On our 2nd day we took a tour of Cartagena which included visiting Santa Cruz de La Popa and the fortress of San Felipe! This fortress (the biggest in the caribbean & one of the biggest in the world) was built over 500 years ago! It was built to help defend against the English the French and pirates!
With the heat well into the nineties and high humidity we also saw some much needed pool time at our hotel.
Today, our final day in Cartagena, we took a day trip to the Rosario Islands - a hidden gem in the south Caribbean! We got back in time to see an unbelievable sunset from Café Del Mar! We also had a few cocktails while enjoying a very nice Caribbean breeze.
Finally a late dinner at Santo Domingo Square!
Though it's sad saying good bye to Cartagena - we are definitely looking forward to saying hello to Santa Marta! *After that it's on to Bogota and meeting up with our Colombian adoptee discover me tour group!
Adiós for now!
