We'll have a very active 13 days starting things off with 3 nights in Cartagena - a beautiful Caribbean town in which the entire city is surrounded by stone walls - these walls were built in the 1700's in an effort to defend the city from pirate attacks! Then on to Santa Marta for 3 nights - another beautiful Caribbean town located off the coast of the Sierra Nevada Mountains (Tallest Coastal Mountain Range on Earth)!
Finally we arrive in Bogota for 7 nights as part of the 2018 Colombian Adoptee Discover Me Tour. We'll be with a group of fellow Colombian adoptees who (like Tara) are in search of biological relatives! There are many many group related activities we'll do together such as visiting orphanages, a pilgrimage to the top of Monserrate (a mountain that dominates the city center of Bogotá, rising 10,341 ft above the sea level), a tour of LaCandelaria (The oldest area of Bogota), etc. We will also be visiting Tara's foster family that took care of her when she was just 2 years old way back in 1974 (Martha Wilches & Lilia Wilches)!
We also can't forget our friend (and tour guide from 6 years ago) Byron Leon who will be joining us on a Colombian Pub Crawl ~ our first night in Bogota!
As far as biological relatives..... well we've been in contact with a 3rd/4th cousin of Tara's that she discovered using Family Tree DNA and there has been some interesting information as of late! A possible meeting with some biological relatives could be in the works in Bogota - perhaps a break we've been looking for to unlocking Tara's past?
Stay Tuned................................
